Travelling by trains is greener than ever. The new trains serving Sudbury, made by Stadler and run by Greater Anglia are bi-mode running on electricity and only using diesel power when on the branch line. Eventually it is hoped that these trains will use batteries instead of the diesel engines, this is being trialled elsewhere on the same train types.
